When a Star Dies - Reeva Steenkamp Tribute

R.I.P. Sweet Reeva

How do you react when a Star (understood as a familiar face of TV, Radio, Movies and Sports) dies as a result of a violent act?

We react badly, 'cause we are deeply convinced that becoming famous enhances the security awareness. I don't know about you, but for me it is. We do not expect someone to die at the hands of those who should have protected her.

In this case, too damn often, that's our personal defenses do not work, even the stars, seen as prima donnas of the star system, they become victims of violent brutes who do not care who the person is, when they decide to end a relationship uncomfortable or want to vent aberrant instincts.

Life is not a talk show. If it was that a show, after a sad news it would enable the dancers to dance, breasts and thighs fill the screen, along with toothpaste smiles. Life is not a talk show, where everything is on the same level, serious things and others do not, in the end you do not understand what is important and what is not.
Hope dies when a woman dies, she dies when dies emancipation, progress, reconciliation.
Almost psychotherapy hope, over the din of frantic shouting, and it kills, and enjoys looking in the mirror of their own stupidity.
Hope dies when a woman dies, one of many, one of too many. A symbol dies and win the world upside down, what reasoning upside down.

Whether it is a mere coincidence or a mocking fate is unknown. A beautiful woman, Reeva Steenkamp, was slaughtered to death by her boyfriend Oscar Pistorius.

Reeva was a young woman full of life attentive to the problems of being a woman in a country where violence against women has become almost normal. Reeva had added to the network last photo that was about violence against women. The image was published to commemorate Anene Booysen, a girl of only 17 years, raped, mutilated and murdered on February 2 at a yard near Bredasdorp, South Africa. The photo was published by the model the 10th February, writing, among other things: "I woke up in a safe house and happy. Not everyone understood. We have to take side against sexual violence in South Africa. Rip Anene Booysen. "

Unfortunately it was not so. Reeva also was the victim of "violence" by "her" man, the big, no more big, paralympic athlete Pistorius.

Such violence will never end? It has been said all of this brutal murder, claiming various excuses to defend not the memory of the victim already known and appreciated in a world that does not involve people emotionally, but of her killer, an athlete who had shown courage and dedication to achieve his goals while being an athlete crippled the amputation of both legs.

This is how our subconscious leads to mourn the athlete even if murderess, athlete and therefore representative of an icy world of purity, consistency, determination. Not the victim who has suffered the athlete man became man beast. The beast in man has arrogated to itself the right to kill, to massacre a beautiful woman for trivial reasons.

In which world do we live in where a man arrogates to himself the right to decide the lives of others on the basis of petty reasons, reasons senseless, it was easier to say no and let live? This is a world where violence, like instinct, is still permitted? We are aware that continue to be violent towards women, women of this planet, wrongly identified as representatives of a weaker sex that proves stronger than us, brings nothing but the moral catastrophe of all our highest values?

Violence, all violence must be fought and defeated. Do not hide ourselves behind fake truth. The man who kills in war does not kill for violence, kill or be killed, kills a sacred right to life, not his but that of an entire people. I will say that the war is absurd, it might be true but it is not violence, if so then they would all deaths that we see daily in the environment where we live, both on the road in factories, homes, hospitals, schools and barracks. But violence is inherent in the human soul and shall be eradicated, annihilated, otherwise she will eventually destroy us.

Violence is abuse of power and control that is manifested through the physical and sexual abuse, psychological and economic. This happens particularly when we know who uses violence and we are tied to the individual who is a man or woman, it does not constitute grounds for differentiation, but here I discuss violence against women and then identify a male and then be strong, bound by a relationship emotional relationship with the victim - the partner, the parents, some friends - even in aggression suffered by foreign physical violence is made of threats, humiliation, restriction of freedom. What is the point of all this? I am told that the men need to vent their instincts aberrant? For this reason there are bullfights, wars, violent sports that teach man anything but to continue to cultivate the same violence?

We must combat violence against women, against children, against those who can not defend themselves, fight forms of mental cruelty, psychological violence, lack of respect that demeans the dignity and offends. We say no to those who constantly criticizes, demeans, makes a mockery of the woman in front of others, insults, pursues and controls, annihilates with jealousy, lack of trust, from seeing friends or family. Say no to those who threaten to harm them.

Say no to violence for a better world.

†  Rest in Peace Reeva.
