SE VI SEMBRA GIUSTO…

Nei primi 2 anni di pandemia i 10 uomini più ricchi del mondo hanno più che raddoppiato i loro patrimoni, passati da 700 a 1.500 miliardi di dollari, al ritmo di 15 mila dollari al secondo, 1,3 miliardi di dollari al giorno. Nello stesso periodo si stima che 163 milioni di persone siano cadute in povertà a causa della pandemia. 

In questo momento i 10 super-ricchi detengono una ricchezza sei volte superiore al patrimonio del 40% più povero della popolazione mondiale, composto da 3,1 miliardi di persone. Ogni 4 secondi nel mondo 1 persona muore per fenomeni connotati da elevati livelli di disuguaglianza come mancanza di accesso alle cure, fame, crisi idrica. Decine di milioni di persone vivono con meno di un euro al giorno.

Dall’inizio dell’emergenza Covid, ogni 26 ore un nuovo miliardario si è unito ad una élite composta da oltre 2.600 super-ricchi le cui fortune sono aumentate di ben 5 mila miliardi di dollari, in termini reali, tra marzo 2020 e novembre 2021. Sono i dati emersi nell’ultimo incontro dell’alta finanza a Davos, tenuto quest’anno – bontà loro – senza concentramento di superjet privati ma più sobriamente on line.

I dieci più ricchi del mondo risultano Elon Musk (patrimonio di 274,7 miliardi di dollari, Bernard Arnault (198,9 miliardi), Jeff Bezos (194,5 miliardi), Bill Gates (138,3 miliardi) e poi Larry Page (124,5), Mark Zuckerberg (123,1), Larry Ellison (120,8) Sergey Brin (120 miliardi), Warren Buffett (109,1) e Steve Baller (106.5). Giovanni Ferrero è l’italiano più ricco (33,3 miliardi) mentre Silvio Berlusconi e famiglia sono “solo” a quota 7,5. 

La confederazione no profit Oxfam ha calcolato nel suo ultimo rapporto che in questi due anni il numero uno di Amazon Jeff Bezos è quello che ha incrementato di più il proprio patrimonio per oltre 81,5 miliardi di dollari: il surplus nei primi 21 mesi della pandemia equivale per lui al costo completo della vaccinazione (due dosi e booster) per l’intera popolazione mondiale. 

Eppure non si riesce neppure a mettere in campo una tassa planetaria che in qualche moda colpisca ovunque e in modo progressivo i redditi che superino una soglia che personalmente considero di immoralità. 

Tranquilli, comunque, perché tutti – da Lazzaro al ricco Epulone – moriremo uguali.

Visiting France

Why has France failed to exploit its natural landscapes to promote regional tourism? People mostly go to Paris and other cities, but the entire variety of their natural wonders stays under the radar (relatively).

You know what is french people favorite holiday destination? France.

Post WW2, the government launched a huge project called the “Mission Racine" which had as goal to clean and disinfect the region of Provence, (mainly cleaning the waters and extermining mosquitos since malaria was still pretty common), in that vision, you have a lot of balnéaire stations from La Grande Motte to Palavas Les Flots and such, and the amenagement and accessibility of mountains villages so they can be accessible to tourism.

An average french has done a pretty global tour of France with it's beautiful and variety of landscapes, cultures and regions, much more in contrast with most americans that barely have made it past the state border. Comparatively, France is a little smaller than Texas, so you can easily imagine french people taking their cars all around the country, the symbol of it being the week end of the chassés croisés (you'll probably hear of it soon, it's the last week end of july or the first week end of august).

To add, France is also german, italians and spanish most frequented destination and they don't at all visit Paris or only Paris.

So France has good potential and the used populations know that, if you're americans or from a country not bordering France I understand it's easy to see France as only Paris but make reseaches and try it, camping in the Azur Coast, skying in the Alpins mountains, the Atlantic coast, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Marseille, you could spend the next 10 years visiting France and you will never get bored, each destination is different.

These are some of the cheap destinations the french often visit, some of them like Avoriaz and LGM were solely built for tourism. Even the suburbs of Paris have great to offer (Pontoise) in term of beauty, history and authentiticy, as we say, the next time, all you have to go is cross the périphérique and discover the world behind those Paris walls.
